You may have read a piece of poetry and felt an emotional connection. Did you ever feel the pain, happiness, or sadness of an author? William Wordsworth’s poems seem to touch his readers and show his emotions. He writes things that everyone can relate to such as nature and family. William Wordsworth compares the hardships of life with natural features and occurrences.

William Wordsworth was born in Cumberland on 7th April 1770. He was raised by parents from an upper middle-class family. He lived together with his parents, four siblings, and mother. He lived with his mother, father and four siblings. Wordsworth lost his mother when he was eight years old. Wordsworth did not have much contact with his deceased father. His uncles take over as guardians for him and his siblings after his father dies. William Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammar School. William Wordsworth attended Hawkshead Grammar School from 1779 until 1787. St. John’s College furthered him education. He was in France during the French Revolution. Later, he became a radical political figure. He wanted to rid the Monarchy of the Churches. William Godwin was his teacher. In 1802, Mary Hutchinson married him and they had 5 children. His brother drowning made him very sad. Elegiac Stanza is a poem he wrote to express his sorrow. The poem reveals that he has lost his creative youth. The poem Tintern Abbey shows that he has lost his youthful creativity.

William Wordsworth was introduced to a man, Raisley Cavert, who looked sick. Calvert offered to give Wordsworth some of his money. Raisley passed away shortly thereafter, so Wordsworth was relieved of his financial worries for a time. William Wordsworth penned a lot of poetry. He thought that poetry could be written with everyday words in an easy-to-understand style. He believed serious poems could be written in a plain style using everyday words and describe “Situations From Common Life”. He had a good description of nature. William Wordsworth had many poems on nature. One of them was The Prelude. It compared motherly love with nature. William Wordsworth wrote in a way that readers could understand. He even said that readers who are used to the inane and gaudy phraseology of modern writers will have to deal with strange and awkward feelings if they continue to read this book. His books were usually based on his feelings. The Ruined Cottage for instance, is about a lady who has lost her loved ones at the same time that his brother died. Wordsworth collaborated with Samuel Taylor Coleridge to create a book entitled Lyrical Songs. Wordsworth penned Tintern Abbey. Thomas De Quincy stated that Wordsworth appeals directly to the emotions of people and wants them to reflect on their own lives. William Wordsworth was born in Rydal Mountain, Westmoreland and died on May 23,1850 in England (Bateson 5). He created the impression that all poetry is subjective, regardless of whether the poet tries to make it about a subject.
